1. Q: How do I get a personalized Pre Ride Flow?

A: By contacting us! Yes, we will build a personalized flow just for you. Inquire here, and we will book you in for your first remote session. Or, if you are in the UK and would like to visit us in person - we'd love to have you in the studio!

  2. Q: How do I determine my fitness level?

A: Everyone is different. At EqueSoul, our primary concern is safety and form, so always scale back if you are not able to maintain proper position. If you ride 1-3 times a week and are not currently exercising, start at Walk. If you ride 3-6 times a week and are currently exercising regularly, start at Trot. If you ride more than 6 times a week and exercise daily, start at Canter. If you are unsure, always just start at Walk - you can always build from there!

  3. Q: If I am doing other exercise programs, can I still do the EqueSoul programs?

A: Of course. Our programs were designed to improve your mobility, proprioception and overall physical ability leading to stronger more symmetrical movements. This can compliment any other physical activity you might choose to engage in.

  4. Q: If lam doing other exercise programs, can | still do the EqueSoul programs?

  5. Q: Should I exercise if I have injuries?

A: We know nearly every equestrian has had some kind of injury during their riding career. However, if you are currently recovering, consult your physician before beginning any new exercise regime.

  6. Q: If I feel a movement is too easy, what should I do?

A: The best thing to do as you increase in difficulty is to engage your entire core. You can do this by raising your arm straight in front of you or directly overhead with your elbows locked and your spine straight. Remember - never compromise your form. It’s always better to scale back to an easier position.

  7. Q: When should I use any of the recommended tools?

A: Tools are not required for any of our movements. However, they can be used to both make a movement easier or more challenging. At the beginning of each video, we list the icons of possible tools. Additionally, you can use a pole (or broom, pitchfork, etc.) to further challenge your stability.

You may also choose to use a wall or a chair for stability as you are improving your balance. In order to improve your stability, you might regularly take your hands away to see if you can do the movement without their support. When you begin to move from Walk to Trot, or Trot to Canter, you may choose to use a pole or crop with both hands in front of you or over your head. This will allow you to stabilize your arms while engaging your upper body and keeping your elbows locked in this more challenging position.

  8. Q: Why do we build our programs the way we do?

A: Equestrian sport is a unique one. If you ride, you know what we mean. Unless you are a Vaulter, you are working extremely hard to maintain a specific position while on board.

This means that we are not challenging all planes of movement. Additionally, we are not pushing our function and ability beyond what is needed during a ride. This, coupled with the numerous injuries equestrians have, we find ourselves in an ever ageing scenario of progressive compensation.

By improving proprioception (your mind's awareness of your body) and using all places of movement, we challenge a rider's body in a manner similar to dance. While weightlifting is fantastic for the human body, it is the “flow” of heightened mobility combined with conditioning and strength we are after. Given our horse is our partner - we feel this only makes sense as it is purposeful for the sport.
