Can you actually, “Train for Your Ride?” By Nicole Nason
In the world of equestrianism, the connection between horse and rider is nothing short of magical. It's a partnership that transcends words and relies on the unspoken understanding between two beings. At EqueSoul Fitness, we believe in enhancing this bond by transforming equestrians into athletes who prioritize their personal fitness. We're here to highlight the interconnectedness between rider fitness and the physical well-being of our beloved horses. Today, we invite you to add one simple step to your daily routine: "Train for Your Ride!" It's time we stop underestimating how much this small change can make a world of difference to your horse.
The Athlete Within Every Rider
Equestrians, you are athletes! Whether your discipline is Dressage, Showjumping, Eventing, Reining, Hacking, Trail Riding, Vaulting, or Equitation - you are the essential part of your horse's success. Yet, many equestrians don't always see themselves or their bodies in this way. The time has come to change this perception. Recognize the athlete within and embrace this role for the benefit of both you and your best friend.
What is our Role in Rider Fitness?
EqueSoul Fitness offers a range of specialized programs, including EqueStrength, EqueSculpt, EqueCore, and EqueStretch. These programs can help you enhance your range of motion, mobility, and proprioception. Imagine what this means for your riding performance! A fitter, more balanced you leads to a happier, more comfortable horse.
We didn't stop there either. We wanted to guarantee you knew you could trust the training we were creating. That's why we submitted all of our theory and programming for approval to the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Their backing means we are not only the first ever internationally approved equestrian fitness programming, but we can also teach other personal trainers and fitness instructors around the world on how to properly train equestrians!
The Consequences of Neglecting Rider Fitness…
When a rider neglects their fitness, it's the horse that suffers the consequences. Physical ailments or imbalances in the rider impact the horse's comfort and performance. Horses are incredible beings, who compensate for their riders' weaknesses. However, we can ease their burden by prioritizing our fitness and overall wellbeing.

Goal Number 1: No Goals
Wait..what? That's right - no goals yet. Only habits.
The partnership between horse and rider is one of trust and mutual well-being and we are fantastic at prioritizing our horses health - especially over our own. However, our sport is also deeply time consuming and when you are covered in mud (or other things…), you don't always feel welcome at the gym, right? Plus adding a new task to all of the other mucking out, tack cleaning, equipment repairing, hoof picking tasks is not at all simple. We get it. So where do you begin?
First, it has been scientifically proven that adding any “new” habits to already existing ones means you are much more likely to do them. For example, if you want to exercise in the morning, you could pick something you already do, such as making a cup of tea or coffee and say, “I'm going to do a 10 minute flow after my daily cuppa.” By doing this, you will have overcome the hurdle of “when” and for “how long” you plan to train. An easy to accomplish goal means you will also be much more likely to do it with consistency. Our goal for you is habit creation, which generally takes 4-8 weeks to anchor itself. By focusing on just creating an environment where you easily can and will add the habit, it is significantly easier to evolve and improve.
Create the habit - then set the goal.
Empowering Equestrians to Be the Best Athletes
EqueSoul Fitness is on a mission to empower equestrians worldwide to become the best athletes they can be - regardless of ability level. Our programs are designed to support your journey by enhancing range of motion, mobility, and proprioception. As you "Train for Your Ride!" with us, you'll discover the positive impact on your horse.
Each movement and program is rated by “Walk,” “Trot,” or “Canter.” That's right - we thought it would be much more fitting than, “Easy,” “Medium,” and “Hard.” Further to this rating, all of our movements are bodyweight movements, meaning they can be done anywhere (at home, at the yard, or at the gym). Depending on how much time you have, you can “stack” the workouts completing nearly an hour of training. Or simply, highlight your favorite movements to easily recall when you're in the stable or tack room. We have movements and activation flows which are “standing only,” should you already be in your boots, so while we prefer you train barefoot (our feet have over 100 muscles alone!), we've made sure you have options no matter where you are or what you are wearing.
